Form ADV
Form ADV is the uniform application and disclosure document that investment advisers use to register with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission and with state securities authorities. It is the foundational regulatory filing for a registered investment adviser, and it must be kept accurate and current through timely annual and interim amendments.
The Parts of Form ADV
- Part 1 — structured regulatory data about the adviser’s business, ownership, clients, employees, affiliations, and disciplinary history, filed through the IARD system.
- Part 2 — the “brochure,” a plain-language narrative describing the adviser’s services, fees, conflicts of interest, and business practices, delivered to clients.
- Part 3 (Form CRS) — the client or customer relationship summary, a short standardized disclosure for retail investors.
